Understanding heart valve disease doesn't have to be confusing. Our goal is to provide clear explanations and treatment options for mitral and aortic valve disease.
Past

An incision is made through the middle of your chest and through the breast bone.  This has long been the gold standard for the treatment of valvular heart disease.

Present And Future

For select patients that qualify, the aortic or mitral valve can be replaced through small incisions in the groin or upper chest without having to open up the breast bone. These options include TAVR, MitraClip and Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery.

Important questions to ask your doctor: 1) Do you do minimally invasive surgery; 2) What are your outcomes; and 3) How many cases do you do per year?

Minimally Invasive

We focus on the least invasive approach to address complex valve problems.  This includes Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery, TAVR, and MitraClip.  Our surgeons and doctors are leaders in the field.  Patients with minimally invasive procedures have decreased need for blood transfusions, shortened hospital stay, and ultimately a faster recovery.

We Put our Patients First

Our internationally recognized group of physicians provide a comprehensive and collaborative approach for the treatment of valve disease.  Each patient is carefully examined by a dedicated valve team and discussed at a multidisciplinary valve conference which includes cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, echocardiographers, and other professionals.  Patients are put first and we believe this provides a thoughtful and unbiased approach to determining the best care for patients.
